Air Travel Surge Revives Once-Doomed Airbus A380
The Airbus A380, once deemed on the brink of extinction following dwindling orders and the COVID-19 pandemic, is making a surprising comeback. Grounded during the height of the pandemic, airlines are reviving the large passenger plane due to surges in travel demand.
While initially opting for more fuel-efficient aircraft, airlines like British Airways, Asiana, and Qantas have re-introduced the A380 to their fleets. Despite intentions to retire the model, demand has forced airlines such as Qatar Airways and Lufthansa to reintroduce A380s.
Currently, Emirates remains the largest operator, accounting for over 60% of the active global fleet. source
