Boeing Explores Manufacturing Opportunities in India as Demand for Air Travel Soars

Boeing plans to increase its sourcing of aircraft components from India and is exploring the potential to establish a manufacturing unit in the country to tap into its growing aviation market.

According to Boeing India President Salil Gupte, the focus is on leveraging India's capabilities in various components of an airplane, recognizing that aircraft manufacturing differs from smartphone manufacturing where final assembly is more centralized. Gupte believes that India's high air traffic demand is a long-term growth pattern driven by a growing economy and a desire to fly.

While Boeing and Embraer are evaluating manufacturing opportunities in India, competitor Airbus has no plans for aircraft assembly in the country. source

KLM Unveils Upgraded Business Class Seats with Privacy Doors for Singapore Flights

KLM, the Dutch airline, has started replacing the outdated Business Class seats on its long-haul Boeing 777 aircraft. The new seats feature a 1-2-1 configuration, offering direct aisle access to all passengers.

Additionally, each seat now has a sliding privacy door for enhanced privacy. The seats are wider than the previous ones and come with various amenities such as adjustable lower-back support, multiple charging sockets, wireless charging pads, and a lockable side compartment with a vanity mirror.

KLM plans to retrofit its entire Boeing 777 fleet with the new seats by June 2024. The upgrade will benefit travelers on the Singapore–Bali and Amsterdam routes. source
