Emirates Plans to Operate A380 Superjumbos Until the Early 2040s
Emirates is expecting to continue flying its A380 superjumbo aircraft until the early 2040s, according to Richard Jewsbury, the divisional vice-president of Emirates in the UK.
Despite many airlines retiring their A380s during the pandemic, Emirates believes there will be sustained demand for air travel in the future, especially with the growing global population and the emergence of middle classes in Asia and the Far East.
Jewsbury highlighted the importance of the A380 for the airline's fleet and mentioned the ongoing rollout of premium economy cabins and various sustainability initiatives, including sustainable aviation fuel and recycling efforts. source
Lilium Becomes First eVTOL Developer to Receive G-1 Clearance from FAA and EASA
The FAA has granted Lilium, a German eVTOL manufacturer, the G-1 certification basis documentation required for type certification of its eVTOL aircraft in the U.S. This milestone makes Lilium the only eVTOL developer to receive G-1 clearance from both the FAA and EASA.
Lilium aims to obtain initial type certification from EASA for its six-passenger Lilium Jet by late 2025, followed by concurrent approval from the FAA under the Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement.
The company is among a few eVTOL developers seeking approvals on both sides of the Atlantic. source
